As part of the MA in International Development program at SUDO International University (SIU), I am pleased to introduce the course Development Theories and Approaches. This course provides a deep dive into the core theories that shape global development policies and strategies, equipping students with the analytical tools needed to address pressing international development challenges.
Course Overview
This course examines both classical and contemporary development theories, including modernization, dependency, and post-development perspectives. Through critical analysis, students will explore the evolution of development thought and apply these frameworks to real-world scenarios, enhancing their ability to formulate sustainable development strategies.

Key Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, students will:

Course Requirements and Assignments
Students will engage in presentations, group discussions, and a research-based term paper (15 pages), following the Turabian Notes-Bibliography style. Active participation and consistent attendance are crucial components of the course.

- Final Exam: 20%
